Chilly Beach: Season One

Story Overview: On an iceberg within Canada a town was formed called Chilly Beach. Here lives a lump some of Canadians who do 'Canadian things' such as drink beer, drive plows on their trucks, eat poutine and most importantly live hockey. The show mainly revolves around two friends Dale MacDonald who drives the Zamboni and Frank Shackleford who is one of the most important persons being the beer store owner. These small town folk deal with some unique situations only Canadians can get in.

In this season we get to watch hockey injuries, aliens, T.rex's, profitable slush, Canadian music, curling and much more. Watching this DVD really makes you feel like a Canadian as you see the exaggeration on the already extent love we have for certain things, but to help us feel more like this they have created a character named Abby who is an American who 'studies' Canadians and their ways. They also play on this with the 3 DVD cases. When you line them up in order the sides make a beer bottle image. YAY we like beer EH!

Overall the quality of the show and DVD are not to great but at the same time it was a low budget show from a small company who just made a great show never the less. It is a gem that not many people have taken the time to watch. The jokes are great, its entertaining all the way through and its Canadian.

It's Complicated

Story Overview: Jane Adler, a successful bakery owner is a mother of three; Luke Adler, Gabby Adler and Lauren Adler. She is also divorced to Jake Adler who is an attorney. He left her marrying Agness Adler who was a younger woman with a young son.

The son of the divorced couple Luke has just graduated college in New York City which the whole family flies down for. During this little time away in the big apple, The 10 year divorcies hook up for a one night stand which makes Jake go love crazy for his ex wife once again. When back home he chases her trying to get back with her as a ex with benefits ordeal. When Jane gets tired of this she starts to date a serious architect named Adam Schaffer who is working on the plans of the kitchen extention for her. As they spend time together Jake gets jealous and tries to break up the two.

This movie is a refresher in the comedy/love genera. Its nice to see a movie with the naughty idea of two ex lovers getting back together after 10 years. Also they are both not some hot actress/actor that will make everyone want to watch the movie just to see them in the heat of the moment. Another great actor is Steve Martin who FINALLY did a good movie after so many years of doing pitiful kids films. He is a great actor and once again has played a roll showing why he is so well known. Lastly John Krasinski has pulled off an excellent roll as Harley, Lauren's fiancé. They let him use qualities from his roll as Jim Halpert (The Office). Everyone else are just extras but do their minor rolls well supporting the main cast. This movie is funny and the lineup of actors are significantly great.

Despicable Me

Story Overview: Gru lives in a suburban home that has an underground lair where he, his assistant Dr. Nefario and the minions live creating master plans being the super-villain team they are. One day it is all over the news that the greatest heist was pulled when the Great Pyramid Of Giza was stolen. This kickstarts Gru to create the greatest plan in all villain history, to steal THE MOON.

As he tries to get the financials to pull this heist he discovers a new evil under the name of Vector is the new young greatest villain. This causes a threat for Gru as he tries to steal a shrink ray only to have it taken away from the newbie. Now that Vector has the ray Gru has to get it back in which he adopts three orphans Margo, Edith and Agnes who penetrate the lair to satisfy Vectors sweet tooth. As Gru works on his heist to steal the moon, he also learns to love and care for the girls.

This movie can be described in one word 'cute'. The girls and yellow minions are what make this movie likeable. They are what sell this movie since the story line was not great even for a kids movie. Graphics wise the team has put lots of effort cleaning up every fine detail giving it a smooth and realistic feel. The other selling point are the actors that had lended their voices to this movie. Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Will Arnett and more have given life to the characters inwhich you can't even tell it is those actors doing the voices.

One really well done aspect to Despicable Me is the score. They invited Pharrel Williams in who works hard with the orchestra giving the music a James Bond feel mixed with a present day Hip Hop blend. It works really well with this movie presenting the mood that you are to feel. Big props to Pharrell Williams for his significant effort.
