Coraline

Story Overview: The movie is about a girl named Coraline Jones who moves to Oregon with her parents into the Pink Palace Apartments. The place is divided into three apartments with two other tenants. Downstairs houses two retired actresses Misses Spink and Forcible while upstairs is occupied by Mr. Bobinsky the Russian acrobat. While the parents rush to get a gardening catalogue in order Coraline feels alone living a boring life till she discovers a small door. This entrance leads to an alternate world much like hers but much more fun and buttoned eyes. As the story progresses Coraline discovers the dark secrets to this parallel world that she has stumbled upon.

The story line for this movie was cheese and the twist was predictable with the mom controlling this new world. They however did portray an 11 year old Coraline Jones very well making her over emphasize things she said and aggravated towards everything in her life. One pro I do have about the movie is that the graphics were phenomenal, I really enjoyed watching the stop motion come to life. They also used an excellent job with colours helping to set the moods of the environments and moods of the characters from the lack of colours to a vast amount. It is well made for kids but older siblings will definitely be bored with the outcome of the movie.
